the end ... for now

The prayer and fasting week ended last night at a prayer gathering. We had some bad weather which prevented some folks from coming, but we had about 20 people brave the elements and join us for a great time of prayer and fellowship. It was awesome to come together and worship, pray, and discern together. I really got a sense that the Spirit is stirring something within us, not just for the church plant but in our hearts. My prayer is that God will stir in all of us the desire to break the walls down which keep us from venturing out in service to Him and others. This will not be the last time we gather together, but for those who participated in prayer and fasting with us I am curious about your experience. At the meeting last night I posed a couple questions:
1. How was the exercise of intentional prayer and fasting for you?
2. What is the Spirit speaking you, whether it be in your life, the life of your church, or the church plant?
Please share your thoughts on this by clicking the “comments” link at the bottom of this post. Feel free to share your name, and your thoughts on either questions, or on something else.
May God bless us as we continue the journey, together.

  1. I shared last night my thoughts in the 12.16.2008 post. Someone commented that as believers we often give lip service to prayer, but don’t pray intentionally on a regular basis, and called us to do this more often. Another person shared that perhaps it’s time to let go of some of the things that hinder us from being relevant and active in service, whether they are church traditions or personal issues of reaching out. Still another person shared that the discipline of fasting caused them to realize our need for God’s nourishment and grace. There were other great comments that are slipping my mind. Feel free to share a comment you heard from last night as you share your own thoughts.

  2. From Pastor John:
First I believe this was a God glorifying way to approach what we are doing and I thank you for calling and inviting people from all the churches to join in on it.

Second, you did a great job of setting it up and laying the ground work.

Third, I was thinking perhaps we should shoot for another prayer time towards the end of Feb. A couple of reasons. It keeps momentum going; by that time God willing you will know where you are and some of the issues to be repaying about specifically.

We appreciated the aspect of fasting that reminded us thru the day to pray for your work and the church plant in Whatcom County. It was a good time of fellowship with other believers.
